Talk to a live Callen AI agent in Hindi or English

Documentation

Build your first voice agent.

Everything you need to create an assistant, connect a number, and launch calls with Callen AI.

Getting started

Callen AI lets you build AI voice agents that make and answer phone calls, with no code. A typical setup takes three steps: create an assistant, connect a phone number, and either test it with a single call or launch a campaign to call a whole list.

  1. 1Create an account at callenai.in/signup and open the dashboard.
  2. 2Go to Assistants and create your first assistant.
  3. 3Write its prompt, choose a voice, then press Test call to hear it on your own phone.
  4. 4When it sounds right, connect your number under Phone Numbers and launch a campaign.

Create an assistant

An assistant is one AI agent with its own prompt, voice and call settings. Create one per use case, for example lead qualification, payment reminders or appointment booking.

Open Assistants → Create, give it a name, and you land in the assistant editor. The left sidebar has everything the agent needs:

  • Prompt: the first message and the instructions the agent follows.
  • Voice: who the agent sounds like.
  • Custom Variables: per-call details such as the caller's name.
  • Knowledge Base: filler phrases used while it looks things up.
  • Call and Chat: timeouts, voicemail and audio behaviour.

Write the prompt

The First message is what the agent says as soon as the call connects. Keep it short and natural, and say who is calling and why.

The Objective and the sections under it (goals, voice and tone, response guidelines, FAQs, conversation script and more) tell the agent how to behave. Click Edit on any section, change the text, then Save.

Write prompts the way you would brief a new teammate: who the caller is, what a good outcome looks like, what to never say, and when to hand over to a human.

Custom variables

Variables let one assistant personalise every call. Reference them with double curly braces, for example {{callee_name}} or {{mobile_number}}, in the first message or any prompt section.

Add your own under Custom Variables → Manage Variables. When you launch a campaign, each variable is filled from the matching column of your CSV.

Hi, am I speaking with {{callee_name}}? This is Priya from Acme Finance.

Knowledge base phrases

While the agent looks something up, it fills the pause with a short phrase so the caller isn't left in silence. Callen ships with defaults such as “Let me check this for you”. Add or remove phrases in Knowledge Base in the assistant sidebar.

Choose a voice

Open Voice and pick a voice and a language. Your choice saves immediately and is used for every call this assistant makes.

Assistants speak 11 languages: English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia and Punjabi. Every voice works in every language, and the agent switches language mid-call if the caller does. Hindi assistants speak natural Hinglish.

Call & chat settings

Under Call you set the maximum call duration, the inactivity timeout and the timezone. You can also turn on noise filtering, voicemail detection and retry-on-voicemail, and choose when the caller is muted (during the intro, or whenever the agent speaks).

Under Chat you control how long a web chat session can last and when idle chats are warned and closed.

Connect a phone number

Calls go out from a CallenAI number by default. To call from your own number, open Phone Numbers, choose your provider (Vobiz, Exotel or Twilio), enter its credentials and save. Connected accounts appear in the list, and their numbers become available when you test or launch a campaign.

Numbers from your own provider must also be connected on the calling backend before they can place calls. Contact us if a connected number doesn't appear when you test.

Make a test call

Press Test call at the top of the assistant editor. Choose how to test:

  • Phone call: enter your number (and optionally a name) and the agent calls you.
  • Web call: talk to the agent in the browser with your microphone.
  • Chat: test the same agent over text.

Launch a campaign

Campaigns call a whole list with one assistant. Open Campaigns and create a new one:

  1. 1Name the campaign and assign an assistant.
  2. 2Upload your calling list as a CSV (up to 20 MB), then map columns to the phone number and to each variable such as callee_name.
  3. 3Pick the number callees will see the call from.
  4. 4Set the timezone, start and end date, daily calling hours, retry count and cooldown period, and optionally turn on email notifications.
  5. 5Launch, then watch total contacts, calls made and answered on the campaign card.

Call logs & analytics

Call Logs and History list every call with its recording and transcript. Analytics shows volumes and outcomes over time so you can see what is working and tune your prompts.
